Instagram – photo sharing reinvented

We love all things creative here at slate HQ, photography especially. From digital high res imagery to the old school lomography approach, its all of great interest to us. Now, we’ve recently come across an iphone app called Instagram which is simply, (as they put it themselves) “fast, beautiful and fun way to share your life with friends through a series of pictures.”

Basically the idea is to take pictures on-the-go of your everyday occurances and then using the Instagram filters included in the app, beautify your snaps into all manner of styles. These include, lomography, low-fi, antique, sepia, and many more vintage-esque filters. Once edited you can upload the resulting image to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Flickr and Foursquare as well sharing within the Instagram network itself. This is really handy and could change the way you share your images from your iphone forever as you can do it all from one app. If you aren’t a fan of the vintage effects you can skip the filtering stage so your image stays as the original.

Oh yeah, also it’s free!
