Meat opened in Stoke Newington in 2011. The brainchild of two residents that realised that their local area was missing a good butchers shop. Within a year of launching Meat won the 2012 Butcher’s Shop of the Year, a testament to their quality free range meats sourced from UK farms with high standards of animal welfare. Two years later the team opened a second shop in Tufnell Park.
As the business expanded Meat approached Slate to design and build a website. The site needed to showcase all aspects of the business – The two shops, information on the meat, the delicatessen, the wine range and the courses. Slate designed a fresh, clean website that also used traditional imagery to reflect Meat’s traditional values as a British butchers with a modern feel. Meat also run courses from their Stoke Newington premises. Slate designed an online booking system and calendar of events. This functionality allowed customers to book courses, redeem vouchers and the back office system allowed Meat to monitor booking activity with ease.
