Slate was tasked with redesigning CzechMusicDirect which is a shopping site that specialises in selling Eastern European classical, jazz, world music albums. When we first received the brief we to had to transform a very archaic and confusing site to one with a clear identity and concise and simple user journey tailored for an eCommerce site.
The main focus was trying to build a brand identity that barely existed on the previous website. We did this by picking a font that we felt resembled the ethos and style of CMD as well as a soundwave motif that is frequently seen throughout the site. Due to the site having multiple features such as a podcast, radio show and a shop we had to strike the perfect balance that accommodated all those features but also centre the user journey around it being an eCommerce site first and foremost.
